This was one of the first motorcycles constructed by the Ormonde Cycle Company and utilised a single cylinder 240cc engine manufactured by Antione of Belgium. Ormonde agent Childs Garage of Sherborne, Dorset, supplied this machine to local Solicitor, Mr E. A. Ffooks.
The Ormonde was registered in his name as BF1 and become Dorset's first registered motorcycle.
However, Mr Ffooks considered 'BF' might be interpreted as "bloody fool" and brought considerable pressure to beat on the Local Government Board to have it changed. Eventually 'BF' was superseded by 'FX' as the county's registration mark.
This machine was owned by the Childs family until 1978 and was displayed at their garage showrooms in Sherborne.
